Our Key Programmes
Primary 1 to Primary 6 VIA Level-based Programmes
Values-in-Action in Qifa consists of a progressive 6-year programmes and activities which provide students with ample opportunities for the learning and application of good values, knowledge and skills to attain the various learning outcomes of CCE. To develop students into ‘Leaders of Character’ and ‘Contributors with Passion’, the focus of P1 to P6 VIA Level-based programmes emphasizes on showing empathy to others and the environment. The VIA Level-based activities also provide students the opportunities to embrace their social roles in the school and community through the joy of learning and contributing.
From P1 to P6, the VIA Level-based programmes are guided by Design Thinking Model “Feel-Imagine-Do-Share” adapted from “Design for Change”. Design Thinking Model emphasizes on students’ empathetic thinking, problem-solving and creative thinking skills. During the Level-based programmes, students will identify an area they want to focus on. Students will then conduct research on the areas they have identified and brainstorm possible solutions to address the issues. Lastly, students will embark on experiential learning by implementing their ideas and share their efforts with their schoolmates through assembly talks or project work display. During the process, students exemplify the school values ‘Pride in Work’ and ‘Enterprising Spirit’ as they are challenged to try out possible solutions to address underlying issues.

(1) ‘Keep Qifa Clean’ Programme
All students from P1 to P6 are involved in ‘Keep Qifa Clean’ Programme. Students acquire self-management skills and self-discipline as they learn to clean up after themselves through daily canteen and classroom cleaning. The programme inculcates in the students everyday responsibility and graciousness to care for their own and shared spaces in the school.
During the cleaning of the canteen, student pick up rubbish and food scraps on the tables and the floor and throw the rubbish into the rubbish bins. They also help to clear plates/utensils that are not returned. The last 10 minutes of each day before school dismissal is also assigned for the cleaning of their classrooms as students would have to take ownership of their classrooms cleanliness to ensure that their learning spaces are clean and tidy before they go home.

All students are involved in newspaper collection drive every semester. Students are required to bring newspapers from home for recycling. This collection drive helps students to develop into socially responsible individuals who show ‘A Caring Heart’ for the environment as they learned the importance of 3Rs ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’
West Coast Earth Hour
Our school collaborates with West Coast Community on the community event: West Coast Earth Hour annually. Student leaders such as VIA Monitors and prefects set up educational and game booths to educate the community on a series of environmental issues. This event provided room for exploration and creation for the students, as they led and planned the activities. Students also had the opportunity to develop 21st century competencies and skills as they were trained to become confident speakers through their interactions with the public and take on the role of self-directed learners when they researched useful information on the different environmental issues and decided as a group the kind of exhibits and information they would want to showcase.
Intergenerational Learning Programme
Intergenerational Learning Programme (ILP) provides opportunities for the students to interact and bond with the senior citizens from Family Central and FeiYue. Students also developed leadership and communication skills as they learned to plan and implement the learning programme under the guidance of the teachers. During the planning phase, students’ joy of learning was evident as they were empowered to explore innovative ways to meet the learning needs of the senior citizens. This year, selected VIA Monitors and Cyber Wellness Ambassadors taught the senior citizens on the usage of various mobile applications and educate them on the importance of cyber wellness in the digital world. Through close interaction and bonding session with the senior citizens, students also learned to show respect to the elderly and display the school value ‘Pride in Work’ while teaching the senior citizens how to use the mobile applications.
‘ILP programme allows students to teach the Senior Citizens on how to use the mobile applications. I enjoyed interacting with them.’
