To develop pupils’ ability in Mathematical problem solving


Striving Towards Excellence in Mathematics (STEM)

        In alignment to the school teaching and learning framework, department mission, vision and guided by the Singapore Mathematics framework where the five interrelated components of Concepts, Skills, Processes, Attitudes and Metacognition support the development of the 21st Century Competencies in our pupils, the department designs learning experiences to equip our pupils with thinking and problem-solving skills through effective approaches and engaging activities. The department is to be well-resourced to carry out the CPA approach to mathematics teaching and learning. In addition, ICT resources are also utilised to aid and enhance pupils’ learning processes.

        The department also embarks on developing school-based curriculum innovation such as CoP for the Primary 3 and 4 pupils where lesson packages are designed using the CPA approach and ICT, leveraging on the 21CC initiative to help our pupils to learn mathematical concepts and skills more deeply in order to understand mathematics and not just acquiring the computational skills.

        Thus, the Mathematics instructional programme in Qifa focuses on improving pupils’ attainment in Mathematics and aims to prepare our pupils for academic pursuits, ready for lifelong learning in the real world, and an inquiring mind so that they will be equipped with the knowledge and skills for the 21st Century and beyond.
